So far so good. Going on a 1000 km backcountry adventure North Vancouver Island this weekend.
I wanted to love this but threw it in the garbage at a random gasoline station in the middle of nowhere after spilling gas all over the bike yet again. Even without it the 701 tank only gives you a second notice before it overfills. With this in place you gets 1/10th that time, almost always over filling. On top of it, the friction caused by the netting slows your filling speed though that doesn't make up for the overfilling problem. Like I said, wanted to love it, I use one in my 350EXC but it's tank is transparent, with my 701 this was a waste of money.
The filter slows the flow of fuel into take enough to make filling up at the gas station a chore as you have to stop every 30 seconds or so to let the gas run past the filter into the tank or it will overflow.
For me it proved unecessary and I'm uninstalling.
Overall I have had great experience with Vanasche- but I would pass on this if I were you unless you really really have concern about foreign objects entering your tank.
In theory a nice and useful product to keep dirt out of the fuel tank. However, the fine mesh is much too restrictive. As a result, it makes filling the tank nearly impossible as the flow rate is sooooo slooooow. Very frustrating. I am removing it.
The screen is such a tight weave that after sitting in fuel a while it swelled or a film developed where air could not escape and fuel would not go in. I removed it.
